Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Trustedcopy — the rail that registers documents at their source and verifies them on receipt. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.
The service
Trustedcopy provides two capabilities on one rail. Issuers register the documents they produce so each can later be confirmed as an authentic original. Verifiers submit a document they've received and receive a verdict about whether it resolves to a registered original.
Trustedcopy returns one of two outcomes for any check: authenticated — the document resolves to a registered original from a verified source — or unable to authenticate. An “unable to authenticate” result is not a determination that a document is inauthentic; it means we could not match it to a registered original.
Accounts and verification
You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure. You're responsible for activity under your account.
Issuer display names are never free text. Before any document registers under a name, we verify the issuer's identity (business or individual) and, where applicable, domain control and public-roster credentials. This is what makes a verified name meaningful on a verdict.
Fees and payment
Trustedcopy charges a single flat transaction fee (the “rail fee”) on each verification. The rail fee is the same for every issuer.
- Verifiers are charged the issuer's set price only when a document resolves to an authenticated original. Checks that can't be authenticated, and re-captures of an unreadable document, are free.
- Issuers set the price of a verification of their documents and receive that price less the rail fee, settled automatically to a connected payout account.
- There is no subscription, seat fee, or minimum commitment.
Payments and payouts are processed by our third-party payments provider, subject to their terms. Taxes are your responsibility.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the service. In particular, you will not:
- register documents you are not authorized to issue, or attempt to register under another party's identity;
- use the service to harass, defraud, or infringe the rights of others;
- probe, scrape, or interfere with the integrity or performance of the rail;
- represent an “unable to authenticate” result as a determination that a document is inauthentic.
Intellectual property
Trustedcopy and its software, marks, and documentation are owned by Trustedcopy, Inc. You retain all rights in your own documents and content; we claim no ownership of them.
Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is.” A verdict reflects whether a document resolves to a registered original — it is not an endorsement of the document's contents, nor legal, financial, or professional advice. You are responsible for how you act on a verdict.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Trustedcopy is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim.
Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms or misuse of the rail. Provisions that by their nature survive termination will survive.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; material changes will be notified in-product or by email. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
